PURPOSE To plan incoming shipments from other terminals into productive delivery routes while maintaining freight and equipment flow. Also responsible for ending equipment close to areas that will help the dispatcher during the pickup phase.
Design productive delivery routes and efficient movement of all freight to the proper destinations
Maintain superior customer service through strategic planning and maximizing utilization of loading space
Ability to do research on the computer
Communicate and coordinate with the dock supervisor and/or dock supervisor duties
Ability to improvise and coordinate changes to the plan
Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
Fluent command of the English language is required to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills
High school diploma required
Previous experience in LTL trucking industry is required
Must be competent using windows based systems.
Problem solving and analytical ability is essential
Strong typing and ten key skills are a plus, but not necessary
Must possess knowledge of hazardous materials regulations
Ability to work an evening and/or night shift schedule
Flexibility with regards to work schedule is imperative
Must be able to work with little or no supervision
Potential candidates must be able to endure a noisy, dirty and quick paced environment with many interruptions
Candidates must be physically able to endure year round weather conditions
